In a CHED Memorandum Order No. 50, series of 2017, the Commission on Higher Education has declared the CHED –JIP recognized journals after the completion of the first batch of evaluation of journal applications.
The Mindanao Journal of Science and Technology (MJST) has been declared as one of CHED recognized journals for the Journal Incentive Program (JIP) under the Journal Incubation (JI) Category for 2017- 2019.
The Journal Incentive Program, which supersedes the Journal Accreditation Services (JAS) created by CMO No. 5 Series of 2012, aims to sustain initiatives to pursue quality, research integrity and honesty, and ensure adherence to international standards. JIP is geared in providing financial incentives to journals that will pass the technical evaluation.
Two categories of grants are considered for this program: Journal Challenge (JC) grant and Journal Incubator (JI) grant. JC caters to Scopus/WoS-indexed journals and aims to support activities that will lead to increase in scientific citations and promote social media presence and public engagement profiles of scholarly articles in the journal. The other category, JI, will support promising journals towards path to meet the minimum generally accepted standards for Scopus/WoS-indexability. The grant for JC is Php 500,000.00 for a period of three (3 years) while the JI grant is Php 400,000.00 for a period of three (3) years.
