4 USTP Panaon Sepaktakraw players join MASTS Sports Competition 2023

The Sepaktakraw Team of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) in Panaon, Misamis Occidental, participated in the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Inc., Sports Competition hosted by the Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology (CFCST) in Arakan, North Cotabato, last September 10–15, 2023, participated by 23 other SUCs in Mindanao.
The Sepaktakraw Team comprised four (4) competent and skilled Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology students: Mharc Lesther D. Cabug, Joamar A. Enerio, Eymard Kim L. Jungao, and Merl M. Tomimbang. Engr. Mark Rey Z. Embodo, the Sports Coordinator of the USTP Panaon, accompanied the team.
The USTP Panaon players completed the USTP Sepaktakraw Team and joined the line-up with the USTP Cagayan de Oro players.
The Sepaktakraw players from USTP exerted all their efforts and energy. They showcased their strategies, enabling them to finish Top 2 in the Region and getting directly invited to join the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) National Games, representing Region 10 on October 1-6, 2023, at the Tarlac Agriculture University (TAU) in Camaling, Tarlac City.
With an astounding total of 45 Gold, 58 Silver, and 31 Bronze medals, the USTP Sepaktakraw Team came in third place, showcasing exceptional talent and hard work. Throughout the competition, their enthusiasm and dedication shone through.
The MASTS Sports Competition’s overall final ranking results are as follows:
- RANK #1 – University of Southern Mindanao (USM)
- RANK #2 – North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU)
- RANK #3 – Central Mindanao University (CMU)
- RANK #4 – University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP)
- RANK #5 – Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU)
