Enriching Agri-Ecotourism

Agri-ecotourism presents an exciting avenue for development by integrating research, innovation, and modern technologies to produce high-quality agricultural products.

Agropolis S&T Park will utilize protective and precision agriculture, organic farming, food processing, agricultural information and communications, and biotechnology technologies.

This park will also foster an innovative ecosystem that promotes community engagement, allowing visitors to experience the beauty and agricultural landscapes of Claveria.

Educational tours will be organized for students, local government officials, and researchers eager to explore the area’s natural and agricultural resources.

Flourishing Dragon Fruit Farm

Claveria is well-known as one of the region’s top producers of dragon fruit.

Agropolis S&T Park will contribute to the production and promotion of dragon fruit, with plans to develop it as a potential farm tourism destination.

The USTP Center for High-Value Crops has conducted significant research to enhance the quality of dragon fruits. The Dragon Fruit Farm is expected to attract local tourists, complementing the vibrant café and restaurant scene along Highway 955, which connects Claveria with Gingoog City and Villanueva.

The Dragon Fruit Farm currently produces high-quality fruits during peak season, from June through September.

Nurturing and Conserving Bambusetum

The Bambusetum is a designated area where bamboo species are grown for educational, research, and tourism purposes. In September 2021, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of a Bambusetum at USTP Claveria.

This tripartite agreement ensures collective support for the successful implementation of the project. The Agroforestry Department of USTP Claveria shared that it has cultivated and maintained around 17 bamboo species over the years, contributing to the Bambusetum’s growing collection.
