CDO b.i.t.e.s. holds Sparktrack Demo Day 2024

The CDO b.i.t.e.s held the Sparktrack Demo Day at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO) on November 12, 2024. The event served as the selection process for the Cohort 8 Firestarter Main Incubation Program, a six-month tailored training designed to empower emerging startups with essential resources and mentorship.
The program began with welcoming remarks from Engr. Franch Maverick A. Lorilla, TBI Manager of CDO b.i.t.e.s. He warmly greeted the attendees and passionately emphasized the critical role of fostering entrepreneurial growth in the region.
Engr. Alex L. Maureal, USTP CDO Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, delivered an inspiring message that reinforced the university’s unwavering commitment to driving innovation and nurturing local entrepreneurship.
Ten (10) promising startups pitched their ideas to a panel of esteemed judges in a hybrid format, with some teams presenting in person and others participating online via Zoom. The participating startups were LooksFam, AgriRev System, POLLS, AgriLoop, Trabahu.ai, FoodBasket, GlamGenie, Kabaw.ai, Moms@Work, and Queply.
The panel of judges included Engr. Bronson Mabulay, Founder of Systems Innovation Consulting Labs; Dr. Vanessa A. Garcia, Director of the Technology Promotions and Commercialization Office (TPCO) of the USTP System; and Engr. Jodie Rey D. Fernandez, Head of the Center for Artificial Intelligence. They provided valuable feedback, evaluating each startup’s potential to create meaningful community impact.
The event concluded with deliberations. The results will be announced soon, and the selected teams will join the Firestarter Main Incubation Program, where they will receive mentorship and resources to further develop their startups.
The Sparktrack Demo Day showcased the region’s innovative spirit and entrepreneurial talent, highlighting USTP’s vital role as a supporter of impactful startups and a catalyst for a vibrant innovation ecosystem.
