DABE students excel at 27th PSABE-PPG Mindanao-wide Convention

In a dazzling display of talent and academic competence, the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) of USTP Claveria made an incredible feat at the recently concluded 27th PSABE-PPG Mindanao-wide Convention held last February 26–29, 2024, at various locations in Butuan City.

The event, themed “Bugsay Bayaw: A Voyage to a Greener and Food-Secured Philippines Through Innovations in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering,” witnessed the participation of 33 ABE students and two faculty members, Engr. Analiza Paaño and Engr. Jay Bosquit, alongside delegates from institutions across Mindanao.

The convention, aimed at fostering camaraderie and collaboration among ABE students, focused on enhancing academic proficiency, honing ABE-related skills, promoting professional competency, and nurturing holistic ability through convention talks and friendly competitions.
Students were able to demonstrate eloquence and depth of knowledge, innovation, and ingenuity, further solidifying USTP Claveria’s position as a hub of excellence in agricultural and biosystems engineering. Among the notable awards garnered were the following:
- Mr. Jovin Loyola, First-Runner Up, Mister, and Miss PSABE-PPG Mindanao Island
- Ms. Shanelou Buna, Ms. People’s Choice Award, Mister and Miss PSABE-PPG Mindanao Island

- 1st Place, Dagliang Talumpati (Oratorical Speech)
- 2nd Place, PABESUGAY (The Quiet Spectacle for ABE Aficionados)
- 4th place, Extemporaneous Speech
- 4th place, Jingle Contest
- 4th place, ABE Quiz Bowl
- 4th place, Same Day Edit
- 6th place, ABE Diorama
- 7th place, CAD Challenge
- 7th place, Tractor Parts Identification
- 8th place, Poster making contest
- 8th place, Pagsulat ng Sanaysay (Essay Writing Contest Filipino)
- 9th place, Tractor Rodeo
