Engr. Kenneth James Bryle Magsayo: Driving USTP’s Commitment to Engineering Excellence

With a remarkable journey in engineering and innovation, Engr. Kenneth James Bryle Magsayo has become a notable inventor at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), propelling the university’s commitment to engineering excellence. He is a Design Engineer at the Northern Mindanao Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (NorMMEIC) and a Mechanical Design Engineer at the USTP Infrastructure Planning and Facilities Development Office (IPFDO).
Engr. Magsayo graduated in 2015 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST), now USTP. He later earned a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in 2022. These foundational experiences laid the groundwork for his career in engineering and allowed him to bring innovative and practical solutions to USTP’s academic and professional environment.

He began sharing his expertise with students as an instructor in USTP’s Mechanical Engineering Department from 2017 to 2022 and currently teaching in the Manufacturing Engineering Technology Department.
Driving Innovation
Engr. Magsayo invented the Quick Roast Griller, USTP’s first patent invention, a significant advancement in cooking technology and the meat and poultry cooking industry. However, the development of the Quick Roast Griller faced challenges. Despite initial rejections, Engr. Magsayo remained determined to pursue his vision. His perseverance led to a groundbreaking invention, highlighting his commitment to ingenuity and practical technology advancement.
Apart from the Quick Roast Griller invention, Engr. Magsayo also created the Reversible Stove Assembly, the first industrial design registered at USTP.
Expanding His Vision
Engr. Magsayo’s drive for innovation continues. Since 2021, he has already submitted twenty-two (22) intellectual property entries and currently has three (3) Utility Models and one Industrial Design in the works. His commitment to continuous advancement highlights his passion for invention and dedication to bringing forward practical applications that align with USTP’s mission to advance technology solutions.

Collaboration and Impact
In LunChat Episode 3, entitled “Industry and Academe Partnership: Technology Adoption,” aired on October 31, 2021, Engr. Magsayo talked about his groundbreaking invention, the Twin Screw Extruder Machine with Filling Injector. This machine, developed in collaboration with Bestfriend Goodies, showcases Engr.
