In a rapidly changing world where innovation drives growth, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) serves as a beacon of progress and development. Under the leadership of University System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, USTP has fostered a culture of collaboration, technological advancement, and community empowerment. Through his visionary guidance, the university has forged significant partnerships and agreements that align with its fundamental principles of innovation, service, and sustainability.
Technology Outright Sale Agreement: A Partnership with the First Community Cooperative (FICCO)
On January 15, 2025, USTP entered a Technology Outright Sale Agreement with the First Community Cooperative (FICCO). This collaboration highlights the university’s dedication to developing and transferring technologies designed to address pressing societal needs. The agreement focuses on the commercialization of a Shelf-Stable All Coconut (Cocos nucifera) Drink technology developed by USTP researchers.
This innovative product is a testament to USTP’s ability to leverage scientific research for practical applications, ensuring nutritious, safe, and affordable food products reach the larger market. Through this partnership, FICCO gains the opportunity to adopt, produce, and distribute the technology, promoting its availability while supporting economic growth in the region.

Technology Licensing Agreement with Barangay Pagatpat
On that same day, USTP has achieved another milestone through a Technology Licensing Agreement with Barangay Pagatpat, a local government unit in Cagayan de Oro City. This agreement revolves around the Solar Powered Hydroponic Grow House Systems, an innovative technology aimed at revolutionizing agricultural practices within the community.
The hydroponic system integrates renewable energy solutions with sustainable farming methods, aligning with USTP’s goals of promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing food security. By adopting this technology, Barangay Pagatpat envisions improving agricultural productivity, creating livelihood opportunities, and bolstering the local economy. This initiative is a prime example of USTP’s commitment to empowering communities through technology transfer and technical advisory support.
