The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) is a state university established on August 16, 2016 by virtue of Republic Act 10919 through the amalgamation of the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental and the Misamis Oriental State College of Agriculture and Technology (MOSCAT) in Claveria, Misamis Oriental. Both campuses are located in Northern Mindanao, the Gateway to Mindanao, which offers a strategic locational advantage for the institution to train and develop students from all the other regions of Mindanao.
Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (BSNAME) is a 4 year program with a strong on systems engineering and engineering design. The program teaches the students the knowledge and provides experiences of the complete process of conception, design modeling, implementation, and operation of boats, ships, marine installations, and other complex systems together with deep theoritical knowledge in related subjects such as mechanics and management.
The BS Technology Communication Management is an innovative undergraduate degree that is designed for the future information managers. This inter-disciplinary program incorporates courses from the fields of mass communication, computer science and telecommunication into curriculum from managers who are conversant with the creative process as well as the technological tools that are integral part of the modern-day communication process.
The BS in Information Technology (BSIT) program develops students to become highly dependable IT professionals by equipping them with sufficient knowledge, research & development and technopreneurial skills, and strong moral values to prepare them towards higher academic level and/or a career in industry, academe, or government.
The program provides in-depth understanding of the different electrical machineries and modern industrial processes including wide range of systems, from simplest fuses and motors to sophisticated electronic computer interface boards, motor drives, programmable logic controller and solid-state devices. The students will develop the competencies to design, install, maintain electrical and electronic equipment, and perform preventive maintenance, identify or solve problems in machines used in modern industrial processes.
This program provides graduates with solid knowledge and readily marketable skills in the area of manufacturing engineering. It prepares students foundation in sciences complemented by general technical courses in mechanical design and fabrication and in digital precision manufacturing
Dr. Ruel S. Salvador obtained his Doctorate Degree in Technology Education at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), Cagayan de Oro, Philippines in 2018. His Master’s Degree in Industrial Technology Education at the University of Southeastern Philippine, Obrero Davao City, Philippines in 2000 under the Mindanao Advanced Education Program (MAEP), a Philippine Government Higher Education Scholarship Grant of the Commission of Higher Education (CHED). He is also a practicing Registered Electrical Engineer in the Philippines.
His research interest mainly focus on various educational technology intervention used by faculty to improved learning environment in order to boost students outcomes. His specializes in analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the instructional environment and learning materials in order to improve teaching and learning.
Currently, he is an Associate Professor of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), Jasaan Campus and designated as the Acting Campus Director.
