Ready, Set, Work 2024: USTP, DOLE empower Graduating Students in career and labor readiness

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro City (USTP CDO), through the USTP Career Center and in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region X, successfully hosted the first day of its Labor Empowerment and Career Guidance Conference, titled Ready, Set, Work 2024 on October 23, 2024. This event took place at the USTP CDO Performing Arts Theater (PAT) and aimed to prepare graduating students for their transition into the workforce.

On the 1st day, graduating students from the College of Technology (COT), College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), and College of Information Technology and Computing (CITC) participated in a series of comprehensive sessions designed to enhance their career readiness. 

Participants gained valuable insights for transitioning from USTP to future jobs through key sessions led by distinguished speakers. 

Ms. Mary Joyce Abragan-Harnaiz, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE Region X, presented on Labor Education, covering essential topics such as labor laws, employee rights, and workplace dynamics. These insights provided students with the knowledge to navigate and address workplace challenges confidently.

Ms. Angeli Monsanto, Language and Career Research Coordinator of the USTP Career Center, conducted a session on Employability Skills, where she shared strategies for job readiness. These sessions equipped students with a comprehensive foundation, ensuring they are well-prepared to secure jobs and excel as they embark on their careers.

Ready, Set, Work 2024 is an essential initiative of USTP to support graduates in transitioning to professional careers, offering essential guidance and skills for today’s job market.
