“It is one of the easiest jobs to do: to welcome an already welcomed heart,” Atty. Dionel O. Albina, the USTP CDO Chancellor, expressed with a big smile as he opened his welcome address. In his speech, Atty. Albina emphasized the significance of the ability to survive and be resilient amidst the difficulty of time and situation.
“It is embedded in our DNA. This art of self-discipline and this art of knowing to strive to get what we want in anything in ourselves and this ability to be unyielding, enduring, and most of all the ability to not accept defeat,” Atty. Albina added.
The program continued with the awarding of certificates for the Dean’s Listers from the College of Science and Technology Education (CSTE), followed by the College of Information Technology and Computing (CITC).
Some honor students also gave tips on making ideal decisions, including not pursuing a decision in a rush, contemplating the positive results, and focusing on one’s choices. While their testimonies were flashed on the LED screen, a mesmerizing performance of the USTP Sanghimig Chorale helped set the tone.

The program progressed with the awarding of certificates for the Dean’s Listers from the College of Technology (CT), followed by the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA), the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), and the Principal’s Listers for Senior High School, respectively.
Atty. Albina was indeed happy seeing plenty of awardees for this year and even manifested for more in the years to come.
“The importance of getting an honor is as important as your frame and mindset in life,” the USTP CDO Chancellor shared. “You see, if you do things beyond the level of what is expected of you, sometimes even yourself will be surprised at the achievements you will get.”
Atty. Albina then highlighted a life mantra for the awardees to remember: “The most important thing is you have this unyielding spirit—never surrender.”
These are some lines that the student awardees will remember until graduation. The University hopes these reminders will forever be embedded in the students’ hearts and minds as they grow and flourish.
The USTP Academic Awards 2022 ended with the awardees singing “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten as a tribute to their success.
