The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) has made a significant leap by debuting in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings Asia 2025. USTP has secured the 169th spot in Southeast Asia and is placed within the 901+ bracket in the overall Asia ranking, as published on the QS official website.
This year’s edition of the rankings covers 25 locations across Asia, featuring 984 institutions, of which 25 are from the Philippines. Of the 984 institutions, 142 universities debuted in this edition, including nine from the Philippines.
Peking University in Beijing, China, holds the top position in Asia, while the National University of Singapore (NUS) is ranked as the leading university in Southeast Asia.
According to the QS World University Rankings website, “This year’s ranking is the largest ever, featuring over 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems. The United States is the most represented country, with 197 ranked institutions, followed by the United Kingdom with 90 and mainland China with 71.”
USTP’s position in the rankings was determined based on the following criteria: Research and Discovery (45%), Employability and Outcomes (20%), Learning Experience (15%), and Global Engagement (20%).
In 2022, the USTP System was awarded a 3-star rating in the QS Stars University Rating System, an opt-in rating system that provides prospective students with a detailed overview of a university’s strengths, from research and employability outcomes to social responsibility and inclusiveness.
