USTP Claveria Band wins 3rd place in PCO Songwriting Competition

The USTP Band from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) proudly secured 3rd place at the Philippine Communication Office (PCO) Community Caravan Songwriting Competition on October 25, 2024. The band competed against 86 talented groups from across the region in the competition.

Dedicated and passionate about music, the band’s hard work paid off with a cash prize of ₱50,000.00, a trophy, and a certificate. This victory was a testament to their exceptional skill and creativity as they stood proudly among the best competitors.

Band members Hurt Kent Fostanes, Jeramae Edquila, Japeth Navarro, Rexella Naces, Arianne Nile Labor, Jestoni Nabong, and Adrian Angelo Tinay, along with their Band Coordinator, Mr. Gedion Rey Maxilom, expressed their pride in representing USTP Claveria.

In recognition of their achievement, USTP Claveria honored the band during the Monday Convocation on October 28, 2024, led by Chancellor Dr. Renato O. Arazo and supported by Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Argin A. Gulanes and Director for Culture and Arts Mr. Ramil C. Pagon. The acknowledgment not only celebrates the band’s success but also highlights the musical talent of the Trailblazers at the university.

The success of the USTP Band marks a significant milestone in their journey and serves as an inspiration for future artists within their community.
