USTP Claveria celebrates 126th Philippine Independence Day

Claveria, Misamis Oriental – The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) actively participated in the 126th Araw ng Kalayaan celebration, underscoring the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” on June 12, 2024.
USTP Claveria Chancellor Dr. Renato O. Arazo and members of the Administrative Council joined local officials and community members in commemorating the nation’s independence. The event commenced with opening remarks by Hon. Alfred Azcuna, Claveria Municipal Kagawad, who highlighted the importance of love and unity in the celebration.
Dr. Reynante L. Salvaleon, Municipal Vice Mayor of Claveria, Misamis Oriental, delivered the keynote speech, urging attendees to remember the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers and veterans. Dr. Salvaleon emphasized that true patriotism is demonstrated through daily actions and mutual respect among all Filipinos. He also acknowledged the presence of veterans and stakeholders from various agencies, reiterating the importance of remembering the nation’s founders’ sacrifices in the fight for Philippine statehood.
A key moment in the event was USTP Claveria’s participation in the floral offering ceremony, honoring those who fought for the country’s freedom and highlighting the University’s commitment to national pride and community involvement.

The celebration also featured a vibrant presentation by the Makiglambigit Ako, Ikaw, Sila (MAIS) sa Paglambo sa Lungsod sa Claveria Performing Arts Club, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines through dance.
Separately, Ms. Marysol Roble led a mass singing event, which added to the patriotic atmosphere and engaged the audience in a collective expression of national pride. Hon. Reynaldo S. Fullo, Claveria Municipal Kagawad, delivered the closing remarks, reiterating the themes of dedication, love, and unity. He encouraged participants to embody these values beyond the day’s festivities.
