To further extend the techniques in transforming the buying and sourcing operations of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Claveria to a more responsive, strategic, and value adding function, the USTP Claveria Administrative Management Services Division and the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Office of the same campus, in cooperation with its Central Records Section, conducted a one-day capacity-building activity for end-users on procurement activities.
The activity was held last June 10, 2022 at the USTP Claveria Function Hall and had the theme, “Conversation on Procurement and Sourcing Strategies.”
“The activity is laudable and very relevant, especially for the end-users’ understanding of the procurement process and its bottlenecks,” said Engr. Dennis T. Yamuta during his opening remarks. He emphasized that the sharing of experiences among the major campuses under the USTP System with regards to procurement activities can be considered a best practice that is worth sustaining in the future.
Invited as a guest speaker for the activity was Ms. Melanie A. Jalover, Head of the Procurement Unit at USTP CDO, who spoke on “Procurement and Sourcing: The USTP-CDO Experience,” which was followed by an open forum, a conversations activity, and a workshop involving the participants. The presentation of workshop outputs followed.
Employees involved in procurement, supply and logistics operation, and customer service functions joined the one-day forum.
