USTP Claveria observes Health and Wellness Week 2024

April 15, 2024 – The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) kicked off its highly anticipated Health and Wellness Week 2024 with a dazzling Grand Opening ceremony held at the USTP Claveria Oval. The event aimed to promote the well-being and academic excellence of the USTP Claveria community.

The festivities began at 6:00 PM at the USTP Claveria Oval, hosted by Ms. Ethel Ranque and Mr. Melchor Allado from the College of Arts and Sciences faculty. A vibrant torchlight parade outshines the campus with each unit proudly displaying its distinctive emblems:
- Unit 1: Green Demetrians (2nd to 4th year students from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture);
- Unit 2: Blue Phoenix (Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry, and Bachelor of Technology in Horticulture Management);
- Unit 3: The Fighting Maroons (Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Bachelor of Food Processing Technology, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Biosystem Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management); and
- Unit 4: Golden Valkyrians (1st year students from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, Diploma in Agricultural Technology, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Masters and Doctorate Degrees, and Short Term Dairy Farm Assistance).

USTP Claveria Chancellor Dr. Renato O. Arazo delivered his opening message while Ms. Fee Lofranco, a distinguished athlete from the National SCUAA Game 2023, led the oath of sportsmanship.
Highlighted during the opening was the unveiling of the SAGOP KADASIG Program of the University by Dr. Argin A. Gulanes, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services. The program’s objectives focus on mental well-being, social skills enhancement, and peer group mentoring within the USTP Claveria community.

SAGOP KADASIG is an acronym for Students Advancement and Growth Opportunities Program for Knowledge Advancement, Development Academic Success and Individual Growth.

Joining the evening celebration were esteemed stakeholders who have been instrumental in the University’s pursuit of excellence namely:
- Cong. Jose Manuel F. Alba from Bukidnon’s First District as a dedicated supporter of education and community development.
- Hon. Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” B. Emano, District Representative of Misamis Oriental, 2nd District, was recognized for his commitment to public service, particularly in securing faculty positions for USTP.
- Hon. Mayor Meraluna Salvaleon Abrogar, the dynamic Municipal Mayor of Claveria, whose leadership has facilitated improvements to USTP Claveria Oval with a donation worth Php 700,000.00.
- Gov. Peter “Sr. Pedro” Unabia, the esteemed Governor of Misamis Oriental, along with Cong. Christian Unabia, Representative of Misamis Oriental’s First District, and Mayor Erick Cañosa of Gingoog City were acknowledged for their contributions to progress and welfare, notably through the “Libreng Sakay Program” offering free rides between Gingoog City and Claveria.
