USTP Claveria prepares 946 students for On-the-Job Training with Key Orientation

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) held an On-the-Job Training (OJT) Orientation on January 13, 2025, in accordance with CHED Memorandum Order No. 104 series of 2017 which mandates structured internship programs for higher education institutions for all student interns. The event took place at the USTP Claveria Student Lounge and was attended by 946 students from various academic programs.
Spearheaded by the Career Center and Industry Relations Office, headed by Ms. Jennelyn S. Labay, the orientation was a crucial preparatory activity for second semester OJT students.

The session aimed to equip students for real-world work environments and outline clear internship protocols. Key topics included are:
- CHED Memorandum Order No. 104 s. 2017 Compliance: Overview of guidelines and internship expectations.
- OJT Requirements and Processes: Details on documentation, timelines, and industry placement.
- Workplace Etiquette and Professionalism: Training on communication, ethics, and behavior.
- Health and Safety Measures: Emphasis on workplace safety standards.


Student interns eagerly listen to the lecture during the System-Wide OJT Orientation, a vital step in their professional preparation.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Labay highlighted the significance of OJT in bridging academic learning and professional practice. “This orientation ensures that you, as future professionals, are ready to face the challenges of the workplace. It is a vital step in aligning your academic journey with industry standards,” she stated.
The event also included an interactive forum where students clarified concerns about their upcoming internships. “The session gave me confidence about what to expect during OJT and how to handle challenges professionally,” shared John Reyes, a BS Agricultural Technology student.

A packed Student Lounge as USTP Claveria students actively participate in discussions on CHED OJT guidelines and workplace readiness.
Students will proceed with industry placements following the orientation, guided by the Career Center and program coordinators. Regular monitoring and evaluations will ensure the success of their OJT experience.
