The Office of the Vice President for Global Engagements and Quality Assurance (OVPGEQA), in collaboration with the Strategic Communication Office (STRATCOMM) of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines System (USTP System), conducted the first session of a webinar series focused on Quality Management Systems. This session, which centered on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Awareness Orientation for old and new employees, was held via Zoom on September 26, 2024.

Dr. Lory Liza Bulay-og, USTP System Quality Management Leader, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Officer-in-Charge of the OVPGEQA, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of understanding correct processes to sustain excellence.

The webinar featured two expert speakers from the USTP Internal Quality Audit team: Dr. Charito Ong, lead auditor of USTP Cagayan de Oro, and Dr. Nueva Salaan, lead auditor of USTP Claveria.

Dr. Ong shared insights on the significance and advantages of ISO certification, highlighting benefits such as improved efficiency, enhanced customer satisfaction, compliance with regulatory requirements, better risk management, and data-driven decision-making.

Dr. Salaan discussed the purpose and importance of effective documentation practices, focusing on Corrective Action Requests (CAR). She provided guidelines on proper filing and best practices to ensure efficiency in documentation.

In preparation for the Surveillance Audit, the USTP System is conducting its second systemwide internal audit for 2024 from October 1 to 3, 2024, and will end on October 7, 2024.
