The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) has advanced its engineering education programs with the successful accreditation of its Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs by the Philippine Technological Council – Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET). PTC, being a full signatory of the Washington Accord, means that these accredited programs now have international recognition.

The WASHINGTON ACCORD is an international agreement between bodies responsible for accrediting engineering degree programmes.

Advantages of the Washington Accord

This mutual recognition enhances the mobility of graduates between member countries, allowing them to pursue better employment opportunities and inspiring them to further their studies in post-graduate programs. The accord facilitates a greater understanding and recognition of engineering education and accreditation systems across signatory countries, ensuring that educational qualifications and skills are globally portable and recognized within the industry.
