October 12, 2024 – The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO) has partnered with the Data Science and Technology Corporation (DSTC), also known as the Pinoy Robot Games-National Robotics Competition (PRG-NRC), to present the National Robotics Competition and Innovation Summit 2024. This collaborative initiative, held at Bulua Central School in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, focuses on advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goals 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and 14 (Life Below Water).

The competition stretches from the extension project of USTP with the main beneficiaries from the participating Department of Education (DepEd) schools with project volunteers from USTP CDO, and the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. – Council of Student Chapters (IIEE-CSC) and Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines Student Edition student organizations.

The project leader, Ms. Helen Grace B. Gonzales, and project members, Engr. Mary Ann E. Telen, Engr. Dexter L. Duat, Engr. Daxter Willam Gulben, Engr. Ellen Jane Gulben and DepEd faculties as technical working groups, led the activity.

Mr. Melvin Matulac, Founder of Pinoy Robot Games, welcomed the Department of Education (DepEd) school participants from Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Region, Surigao, SOCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City), and Davao Region.  He emphasized his excitement to attendees and mentors that PRG-NRC awakens the inventor in youwhile recognizing the efforts of USTP in hosting this year’s competition, highlighting the union and vision of both institutions in robotics education and fostering technological innovation among youth.

The competition category consists of robotic games; Mission Challenge, 1kg and 3kg SUMOBOT Autonomous and Remotely Controlled, Line Tracing (Beginner and Advanced Level).

The innovation summit included the Innovative Prototype & Project Ideas presentations. Symposiums from Applied Robotics in the Renewable Energy Industry by Engr. Ellen Jane G.
