The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Jasaan achieved a significant milestone as the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted the Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (BSNAME) program a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) on January 3, 2024, effective Academic Year 2023-2024.
The COPC certifies that the USTP Jasaan meets the specified minimum requirements CHED set to offer the BSNAME program.
Engr. John Carlo Ranoco, Chairperson of the BSNAME program, emphasized the relevance of this certification not just for the department but also for the University.
“The COPC obtained by USTP Jasaan strengthens [the validity] in offering the BSNAME program. Prospective students can enroll with confidence, as we have already been recognized by CHED for meeting their prescribed requirements,” Ranoco remarked.
Engr. Ranoco also mentioned that their significant challenge was the lack of financial resources. However, they successfully overcame this obstacle by collaborating with their department, the University, and partner industry, the Philippine Iron Construction and Marine Works (PICMW).
This certification reflects the department’s commitment to improving the academic environment of the USTP Jasaan, ensuring it continues to deliver high-quality education for its students.
