USTP Oroquieta joins CHED Capacity-Building on Internationalization

Last May 2, 2024, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) participated in the capacity-building activity on internationalization of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region X, held at Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, Corrales Street, Cagayan de Oro City.

The Xavier University Office of International Cooperation and Networking organized the forum on Internationalization for Local Impacts, part of the Beyond Borders International Days. It started with a roundtable discussion with select international relations officers from public and private HEIs, which centered on strengthening the internationalization of HEIs in the region. The forum provided an avenue for networking and collaboration among attendees, fostering connections that transcend challenges.
The esteemed speakers from various agencies, including Mr. Romulo Vinci R. Bueza, Director of Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao Office; Mr. Antonio S. Peralta, Honorary Consul for Finland in Mindanao, Ateneo de Davao University; Dr. Arlita Amapola B. Minguez, Focal Person for the CHED Internalization Initiatives; and Dr. Mauricio Rolo, Director of Admission & Marketing – Madrid, Spain, facilitated insightful discussion on the importance of internationalization. They emphasized its local impact, such as attracting foreign students who contribute to the local economy and fostering cultural diversity that enriches the academic environment.
USTP Oroquieta’s participation in this forum conforms to the institution’s strategic goal of promoting internationalization initiatives, preparing students to thrive in an interconnected world, and fostering a culture of global citizenship in improving education and lifelong learning.
