Three (3) outstanding grantees from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) in Panaon, Misamis Occidental – namely Mary Joyce T. Englis, Jhong O. Naranjo, and Patries L. Parejo, accompanied by their proud parents and the esteemed USTP Panaon Acting Campus Director, Dr. Leny Q. Añasco, – officially signed the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) RISE Program Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on December 13, 2023, at the USTP Panaon Training Center. The Admission and Scholarship Office (ASO) of the USTP Panaon facilitated the significant MOA signing program.
The DBP RISE, the second tranche of the DBP Endowment for Education Program (DEEP), is another DBP flagship CSR program for Education. Qualified and deserving high school graduates are given scholarships in DBP RISE-accredited schools to provide educational opportunities to the best and brightest but marginalized high school graduates while strengthening institutional relationships with program partners.
The collaboration was especially significant for three remarkable individuals among the 1,300 bright students enrolled at the USTP Panaon, who stood out academically despite facing financial limitations.
These three students, who are currently among the first group of DBP RISE Scholars, are outstanding examples of the commitment and talent among students. The activity also highlighted the pivotal role of parents or guardians in nurturing and guiding the educational journey of these promising scholars.
Before the MOA signing commenced, Dr. Leny Q. Añasco, the USTP Panaon Acting Campus Director, shared an inspiring message with the scholars.
The parents echoed sentiments of gratitude and excitement for this program’s opportunities, emphasizing the transformative impact it would have on their children’s lives and their families.
The event ended with hope and a strong commitment, showing that working together would help these students in the future and make a big difference in education and society.
