The training aimed to capacitate researchers in marine and freshwater capture fisheries in Mindanao, specifically on fish stock assessment. It also aimed for research collaboration to better understand the state of fisheries in ocean and freshwater ecosystems and formulate science-based management interventions and decision-making for the sustainable utilization of these resources upon which the livelihoods of thousands of marginal fishers depend.
