USTP Panaon’s 4th BTLED Pinning Ceremony marks milestone for future teachers

The Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) Department of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Panaon, Misamis Occidental (USTP Panaon) successfully conducted its 4th Pinning Ceremony on January 31, 2025, at the La Elena Pension House, Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. This annual event marks a significant milestone in the journey of USTP’s Pre-Service Teachers.

During the ceremony, Pastor Jessie M. Delatina delivered an empowering message and led to the blessings of the bar pins, instilling purpose and service among students. Keynote speaker Mrs. Ione X. Canonigo stressed the teacher’s identity and role in the learners’ lives. The sharing also highlighted the significance of values, commitment, and compassion in teaching the future citizens of the Philippines.
Dr. Susan C. Comaling, Head of the Department of Technology and Livelihood Education, presented a total of 78 (seventy-eight) BTLED pre-service teachers, 42 (forty-two) BTLED students majoring in Home Economics, and 36 (thirty-six) BTLED students majoring in Industrial Arts, to Ms. Annielyn P. Lasagas, Head of Academic Affairs of USTP Panaon. The event’s highlight was the pinning ceremony, where parents and guardians pinned the students’ bar pins. These bar pins symbolize their responsibilities and commitment as pre-service teachers. Ms. Joyce T. Englis, Class President of the Practice Teaching course, led the Pre-Service Teacher’s Pledge.

Ms. Lasagas delivered her message to the pre-service teachers on behalf of Dr. Leny Q. Aῇasco, Acting Campus Director of USTP Panaon. The message centered on inculcating USTP’s core values and graduate attributes to guide student-teachers in becoming successful teachers.
In her closing remarks, Ms. Jane S. Liwagon, Vice President of Practice Teaching course, expressed gratitude and optimism, encouraging the pre-service teachers to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead with confidence and resilience and leave a mark as a Trailblazer, blazing the way for others.
