On June 24, 2024, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II visited the University’s Misamis Occidental satellite campuses — USTP Oroquieta and USTP Panaon — to demonstrate support for significant developments aimed at enhancing educational quality and infrastructure.

Dr. Cultura began his visit at USTP Oroquieta by leading the oath-taking ceremony for newly hired non-teaching personnel. Following this, he conducted a site visit of the ongoing construction of the two-storey Mock Hotel Building. This facility, designed for the Food Processing and Technology Program, aims to provide students with enhanced practical learning opportunities. Dr. Cultura was accompanied by Dr. Glorimer L. Clarin, Acting Campus Director of USTP Oroquieta, and Engr. Grace C. Baba, Director of the Infrastructure, Planning, and Facilities Development Office (IPFDO) of the USTP System, along with IPFDO architects and engineers.

One of the day’s highlights was the groundbreaking ceremony for the Information Technology and Communication Hub Building at USTP Panaon. This building is the first two-storey infrastructure project supported by the administration at USTP Panaon since 2016. In his address, Dr. Cultura emphasized USTP’s vision to foster a culture of excellence, which will be further realized by providing advanced resources and support to both faculty and students through the establishment of the ITC Hub.

Additionally, Dr. Cultura led a consultative meeting with teaching and non-teaching personnel and student leaders at USTP Panaon. The forum provided a valuable platform for open dialogue on various concerns, including faculty welfare, student leadership, curriculum and facilities development, and operational processes. The USTP administration’s continued support for the satellite campuses underscores its commitment to ensuring that all stakeholders play a vital role in shaping the University’s future direction.

Dr. Cultura concluded the visit by instilling optimism within the USTP community in Oroquieta and Panaon through the transformative projects aimed at advancing higher education in Northern Mindanao.
