USTP students triumph as Champion in Ai.Deas for Impact Pitching Competition

Christian Jay Baguio and Karsci Vincze Cespede, Data Science students, along with Mark Rywell Gaje, Neil Angelo Pagupat, and Lady Maxine Sarsalijo, Information Technology students, together with their mentor, Mr. Dario Cruz Miñoza, a faculty member at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO), emerged as champions in the Ai.Deas for Impact Pitching Competition. Their winning pitch showcased how artificial intelligence and AI-driven solutions can effectively address societal challenges, reflecting their dedication to using technology for social impact. The competition was part of the Ai.Deas for Impact: AI for Innovation and Social Impact Workshop held in Camiguin on May 28-29, 2024.

The two-day workshop and competition were organized by the ICT Industry Development Bureau of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) – Region X, in collaboration with the Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP) through its Stimulating the Growth of Emerging Technologies in the Philippines (SET PH) Program. This event brought together students from leading universities across Region 10, challenging them to develop AI solutions that directly address regional issues.
