On May 11, 2024, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental (USTP Villanueva), through its Center for Inclusive Development Studies (CIDS), partnered with the Capitol University (CU) to host an Intervarsity Research Conference.
The significant academic event took place at the Xentro Hotel, Cagayan de Oro, witnessed by Professor Colbert G. Rabaya, Campus Director of USTP Villanueva; Dr. Edwin C. Du, Dean of CU’s Graduate School; Dr. Janet C. Parpa, Chairperson of CU’s Professional Education; and Dr. Olga C. Alonsabe, former DepEd School Division Superintendent of Misamis Oriental.
The conference facilitated insightful discussions and research presentations highlighting the depth and diversity of current academic investigations. These sessions showcased the rigorous intellectual work done across the universities and underscored the academic community’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.
A highlight of the conference was the book launch of Curriculum Development and Evaluation: A Multifaceted Approach. This new publication, which addresses key trends and methodologies in educational strategy and assessment, features Dr. Francis Thaise A. Cimene, USTP Villanueva’s Academic Head, as one of its primary authors. The launch attracted a considerable audience, including educators, curriculum developers, and policy-makers, who engaged in lively discussions about the impact and implementation of the new ideas presented in the book.
