Building on the successful implementation of the projectMainstreaming of Bamboost App as an Online Marketing Platform for Bamboo Farmers in Select Science & Technology Community-Based Farm (STCBF) Sites, or Bamboost for short, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) has been granted funding for Phase 2 of the Bamboost project. This initiative is jointly led by Prof. Love Jhoye M. Raboy of USTP Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO) and Ms. Analiza C. Diaz of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST – PCAARRD).

Phase 2 of the Bamboost project, officially titled “Empowering S&T-Based Bamboo Enterprises Through the Bamboost® Ecosystem Across Select Regions in the Philippines,” will be co-led by Dr. Junar A. Landicho, Dean of the College of Information Technology and Computing of USTP CDO, and Ms. Diaz. This phase aims to empower bamboo communities across the Philippines by enhancing their digital marketing capabilities through the Bamboost Mobile Application.

Bamboost Phase 1 focused on supporting bamboo farming communities and groups in Iloilo, Bukidnon, and Iligan while developing the Bamboost Mobile App for the Android operating system. Phase 2 will expand the project’s reach, targeting bamboo communities and enterprises in Ilocos, MIMAROPA, and Eastern Visayas, and will also involve the design of an iOS version of the Bamboost App. Additional project outputs will include website development, patent filing and approval, and training and marketing activities.

Ultimately, the Bamboost Project aims to promote bamboo resources as a catalyst for economic development and environmental conservation. Phase 2 of the project will be implemented from July 2024 to June 2026.
